Project Overview

PUSH Sverige (PUSH Sweden) is a youth-led network focused on sustainability, climate justice, and civic action.

The organization unites young changemakers across Sweden who are passionate about driving environmental and social impact.

They organize educational events (such as lectures and the “PUSH-akademin”), participate in climate conferences like the UN COP meetings, and campaign to influence policy for a more sustainable future.

Founded in 2013, PUSH Sverige has grown into a volunteer-driven community that relies on digital platforms to mobilize and connect its members.

Challenge

PUSH Sverige’s previous website was outdated, hard to navigate, and didn’t reflect the vibrant, youth-led identity of the organization. Built on an old platform, it lacked responsiveness and clarity – both visually and structurally. The site failed to communicate PUSH’s mission clearly, and visitors often struggled to understand what the organization stood for or how to get involved.

The organization also needed a more intuitive backend system that would allow volunteers (with no coding skills) to easily update and maintain the site. A major challenge was the tight timeline – the project needed to be completed within a few months during a period of high activity for the client team.

Approach

AssiDesign approached the project holistically – combining UX strategy, content development, and visual design. We migrated the site to Squarespace for ease of use and long-term sustainability.

We redesigned the structure from scratch, rewrote all communication and copy, and focused on building an intuitive and accessible experience across all devices.
The visual identity was crafted to match PUSH’s bold and youth-driven character, while the tone of voice remained inclusive and action-oriented.

Throughout the process, we worked in close collaboration with the PUSH team via regular meetings and iterative feedback loops, ensuring the final site felt co-created and fully aligned with their mission.

Design Direction

The visual identity was crafted to reflect PUSH Sverige’s energetic and community-driven spirit.

Inspired by the themes of climate justice and youth activism, we used bold typography, vibrant earth-toned accents, and dynamic imagery of young changemakers.

The layout was designed with clarity and action in mind – clean sections, intuitive flow, and prominent calls-to-action invite engagement without overwhelming the user.

We balanced a modern, professional feel with the grassroots authenticity that defines PUSH, ensuring the site feels credible yet deeply human and relatable.

Outcome and Impact

The result of this project is a modern, vibrant Squarespace website that truly reflects PUSH Sverige’s identity and mission.

The new site meets all the key objectives that were set out at the beginning of the project:

  • Authentic Branding: The site’s design captures the youthful energy and commitment to climate justice that define PUSH. Bold visuals and a cohesive, lively color scheme give the site immediate impact, while still aligning with sustainability themes.

  • Clarity of Mission: Visitors are greeted with a clear statement of who PUSH Sverige is and what they do, right on the homepage. The messaging throughout the site is concise and motivating, making it easy to grasp the organization’s purpose and ongoing initiatives.

  • Improved User Experience: Navigation is streamlined, with intuitive menus and page layouts that guide users to key sections like About Us, Projects, and Get Involved. The information architecture is much more logical and user-centric than on the old site, which means less frustration and more engagement for visitors.

  • Mobile Responsiveness: The site performs beautifully across devices. Whether a young visitor accesses it on their smartphone or a volunteer opens it on a desktop, the experience is consistently smooth and user-friendly. This ensures no one is deterred by a poor mobile experience, and it broadens the reach to meet youth where they are (often on mobile).

  • Accessibility and Inclusivity: By adhering to accessibility best practices (such as readable text, high contrast, alt text on images, and semantic headings), the website is welcoming to a wider audience, including those with disabilities. Everyone interested in PUSH’s work can access the information without barriers.

  • Easy Maintenance: Perhaps most importantly for a volunteer-driven network, the PUSH Sverige team can manage the website content on their own now. We handed off the site with an easy-to-follow guide (in Swedish) on updating text, adding new posts or pages, and handling basic site admin tasks. The team has already started using this manual to keep their news and event listings up-to-date, all without needing any coding knowledge.

Overall, the project was a success. The new PUSH Sverige online presence not only looks modern and engaging, but also effectively communicates the organization’s passionate spirit and call to action.

By collaborating closely with the PUSH team and focusing on user-friendly, accessible design, we delivered a platform that will support their youth-led climate movement for years to come.

In the end, this “fresh digital presence” has significantly strengthened PUSH Sverige’s capacity to mobilize and inspire young people.

As the climate justice movement grows, the website will grow with it – it’s adaptable, easy to update, and always aligned with the organization’s values and mission.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful design and co-creation can translate a community’s essence into an impactful online experience, empowering that community to amplify its message and drive positive change.
